Car Cover Frequently Asked Questions
1. Instructions state that a cover should not be used for the first 3-4 months after a car is painted. Is this just for a repaint job or does it also include a new car that has been painted at the factory?
This only replies to repaints. The paint process at the factory is much different than the local body shop. At the factory, parts are painted and then baked under high temperatures to ensure the paint is fully cured. Since most local body shops do not bake the finish, it takes a much longer time for the paint to cure. We have found that it varies depending upon the shop and the quality of the paint/process so 3-4 months is a safe estimate for a repaint. New car owners do not need to worry because the paint is fully cured before it leaves the factory.
2. Do your covers come with openings for my antenna?
In some cases, our car covers come with antenna pockets custom designed for a particular vehicle. In other cases, there are no openings for a car’s antenna. Covercraft recommends that, whenever possible, antennas be removed before a car cover is applied. If it is not possible to remove your antenna or you prefer not to, a grommet can be sent to you free of charge upon request. 3. What are the differences between custom and ready-fit car covers?
There are several differences between Custom Fit car covers and Ready-Fit car covers. First of all, Custom Fit means that a cover is specifically made for your vehicle, whereas the Ready-Fit is designed for your vehicle and any other vehicle about the same size. Next, most Custom Fit car covers have mirror pockets, which gives the cover a more secure fit. If you have an older vehicle (ex. 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle), you may wish to contact us to verify that mirror pockets will be included with your Custom Fit Cover. Ready-Fit car covers do not have mirror pockets and tend not to fit as well as Custom Covers. In many cases, Custom-Fit Car Covers are only a few dollars more expensive than Ready-Fit Covers. Therefore, our Custom Fit car covers are generally a better choice for most car owners. However, if you need a cover very quickly, most of our Ready-Fit Covers are in stock (these will be marked with the Fastship icon). Fastship Covers generally ship the same day that the order is placed. Many custom covers are also in stock. You may wish to look at both options before you make your decision. Other differences in the Custom Fit and Ready-Fit covers are available materials and pricing options. Custom Fit Covers are available in 7 indoor/outdoor fabrics and 3 indoor only fabrics. Ready-Fit covers are available in 3 different materials.
4. Are your covers waterproof? Are they trailerable?
Our covers are all water repellent, not waterproof. Breatheability, which is not a characteristic of a waterproof cover, is an essential characteristic in a car cover. All of our covers are breatheable to protect your car’s delicate finish.
Our covers are not trailerable. They are designed to offer outstanding protection to your vehicle in a stationary position. Our covers protect from UV rays, dust, dirt, acid rain, and other environmental irritants.
5. What is your return policy?
Your complete satisfaction is our top priority at Covers Direct. If for some reason you are not satisfied with your purchase, please call us at 1-866-818-9901 to inform us of your problem.
We want you to have a quality product that suits your needs. Within 30 days of receipt of your order, you may exchange your non-custom product for another, provided that your product is still in first quality condition. Your replacement will be shipped after we receive and inspect your returned product. If you need your replacement immediately, we suggest placing a new order. A Return Goods Authorization Number will be issued so that you may return your product.
All special orders and custom car covers are non-returnable and non-refundable (except for warranty issues). If for some reason there is a problem with the quality of your special order or custom car cover, however, you are protected. Covers Direct will repair or replace the cover as needed. Covers Direct cannot accept any packages freight collect or COD. All packages must be shipped prepaid. Returns must be inspected before final decisions are made on credits.
All credit card purchases that qualify for a refund will be credited to the same credit card account that was charged in the original purchase. Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing.

6. I need the best performing indoor dust cover. My car is always kept indoors. What do you recommend?
We recommend the Dustop material choice. This cover provides a soft finish to protect your pristine paint job, and it is impermeable to dust and airborne dirt.
7. My cover is not marked with the Fastship icon. When can I anticipate its arrival?
If your cover is in stock, we ship it the same day. If your cover is not in stock, you can generally anticipate its arrival within 2-3 weeks. In most instances, manufacture of non stock items does not take this full amount of time. 8. How does your cover stay on my vehicle?
Our covers come with elastic in the front and rear hems. On either side of the car, underneath the door, there is a grommet. These grommets are made to use with our cable lock kit. This accessory item can be added once you have placed your cover in our shopping cart or by clicking on the accessories tab at the top of our website.
